Jada Ames, a former collegiate softball player, is a dedicated head coach with a passion for developing young athletes. A Claflin University graduate with a Chemistry degree and Mathematics minor, Jada excelled as a dynamic third baseman and utility player in the CIAA. Her standout achievements include earning a Gold Glove in 2018 as a freshman and ranking #2 in Division II Softball for Quality at Bats in 2020. Known for her hustle, strategic play, and leadership, she was a model student-athlete.
Jada’s softball journey began at Lancaster High School in South Carolina, where she honed her skills and competitive drive. Now coaching in Fayetteville, North Carolina, she mentors young players with a philosophy centered on accountability, effort, and love for the game. Her experience as a versatile player and her commitment to high expectations inspire athletes to grow in skill, confidence, and character. Jada’s contagious passion and knowledge foster a culture of excellence, preparing players for success both on the field and in life.
Ina Womack, is a former standout pitcher with a robust collegiate career. At Hoke County High School, she held the #1 ERA in the NC Southeast 4A Conference as a sophomore. Continuing at Louisburg College (NCJAA Division II), her team won regional championships and placed 3rd nationally in her second year. She later transferred to Chowan University (NCAA Division II), refining her pitching skills. Ina earned a Bachelor’s in Biology in 2021 and is pursuing a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at Methodist University, entering her final year.
Ina’s coaching emphasizes confidence, discipline, and proper technique, reflecting her belief that softball shapes young women’s lives. She provides pitching lessons in her community, focusing on fundamentals and body mechanics to build strong athletes. Based in Red Springs, NC, Ina balances coaching with her studies, church involvement, and helping on her family’s farm. Her dedication to sport and community underscores her commitment to fostering positive growth in athletes on and off the field.
JR Pone, a Gray’s Creek resident for 46 years, is an experienced softball assistant coach with 12 years of coaching and private instruction in hitting, fielding, and base running. He has coached athletes from 8U to high school, showcasing versatility and dedication to player development. Pone coached his daughters, Jaden and Haden, with Jaden earning SEC Batting Champion, First Team All-Conference, and All-Defensive Team honors at Ole Miss, plus the NCHSAA career batting average record. Haden, a 6th grader, competes for Gray’s Creek Middle School and Team NC Wilson.
Pone’s coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, confidence, and a love for softball. Known for developing raw talent and fostering teamwork, he elevates performance and instills passion in players. Committed to the program’s growth, Pone brings enthusiasm and purpose to guide athletes in skill and character development, ensuring a positive impact on and off the field.
